Varada Sethu, born on May 12, 1992, is a British actress renowned for her portrayal of DS Mishal Ali in the BBC’s apocalyptic TV series “Hard Sun” (2018) and Cinta Kaz in the Disney+ dystopian sci-fi thriller “Andor” (2022–present).  

Varada Sethu is a skilled actor who trained at top drama school Identity School of Acting, mastering a range of performance techniques. Her education comprised courses in audition technique, improvisation, Stanislavski, Meisner, screen acting, voice, monologues, radio plays & audiobooks, text & performance. Varada excelled in the screen course, which focused on practical work on film and television scripts, preparing her for her role as Cinta Kaz in the Disney+ sci-fi thriller “Andor”. This robust training has paved the way for her flourishing career in the acting world. 

In 2010, Sethu made her screen debut in the short film “Impressions,” portraying the character Samena. The following year, she landed the role of Kiran in the feature film “Sket” (2011), followed by the character Meghana Scariah in “English: An Autumn in London” (2012). In 2015, Sethu appeared in an episode of the TV series “Doctors” as PC Kylie Green. 

Her career progressed in 2016, starring as Peaseblossom in a TV movie adaptation of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.” Additionally, she appeared in “Now You See Me 2” alongside Michael Caine and Daniel Radcliffe, and portrayed an Indian nurse in “New Blood.” 

In 2017, Sethu starred as Aisha in two episodes of “Doctor Foster.” The following year, she portrayed DS Mishal Ali in the British crime drama series “Hard Sun” for six episodes. 

In 2019, Sethu played Lance Corporal Manisha Chetri of the British Army as a series regular in season seven of “Strike Back: Revolution.” She then portrayed rebel Cinta Kaz in the 2022 series “Andor.” 

In April 2024, it was announced that Sethu would take on the role of a companion in “Doctor Who,” alongside Ncuti Gatwa as the Fifteenth Doctor and Millie Gibson as Ruby Sunday in series 15. Before this, she appeared as Mundy Flynn in the series 14 episode “Boom.”
