Nicôle Lecky is a talented actor whose training at top drama school Identity School of Acting has been instrumental in her growth. She studied screen acting, audition technique, text & performance, radio plays & audiobooks, Stanislavski, Meisner, improvisation, and voice. Nicôle excelled in the text and performance course, which focuses on understanding, breaking down, and analysing a script, learning the skills to do this effectively, and translating it into dynamic, exciting performances. This training not only enhanced her acting abilities but also helped her with her writing technique. Nicôle then earned a nomination for the Best Writer Stage Debut Award for her work in “Superhoe.” 

Lecky has showcased her diverse talents through her work as a writer, actress, and director. She contributed to the soap opera EastEnders: E20 and has graced the screens in various television series such as Casualty, Fresh Meat, Sense8, and Death in Paradise. Additionally, she took on the directorial role for The Moor Girl, a short film. 

In 2018, Lecky made waves with her play Superhoe, a collaboration between the Talawa Theatre Company and the Royal Court Theatre. Directed by Jade Lewis, Lecky not only penned the compelling monodrama but also delivered a captivating performance, portraying multiple characters. Inspired by a website revealing personal information about Instagram women involved in sex work, Superhoe garnered critical acclaim. The musical drama Mood, a television adaptation of Superhoe, premiered in 2022 on BBC Three. Lecky reprised her role as Sasha Clayton, served as an executive producer and writer, and contributed to the music creation. Her involvement included interviewing women engaged in sex work online. Mood received widespread acclaim, earning a perfect score on Rotten Tomatoes. 

Following the success of Mood, Lecky signed with the United Talent Agency (UTA). She has since penned another drama for the BBC, slated for release in the near future. Additionally, Lecky is set to grace the screen in the comedy drama Sweetpea, scheduled for a 2024 release. With her multifaceted talents and creative vision, Lecky continues to leave an indelible mark in the world of entertainment. 

Lecky’s talent and contributions to the entertainment industry have been widely recognised. In 2019, she earned a nomination for the Best Writer Stage Debut Award for her work on Superhoe. Additionally, she secured the prestigious Women in Film and TV Awards’ The Netflix New Talent Award in 2022, solidifying her status as a rising star. 

The acclaim continued with Mood, which garnered two BAFTA awards: Best Mini-Series and Best Original Music: Fiction. Lecky’s remarkable achievements were further highlighted by her nomination in the category of Best Emerging Talent: Fiction. During the acceptance speech for the mini-series award, she eloquently expressed her pride as a working-class, mixed, Black woman in the industry, hoping to inspire future generations of storytellers. 

Furthermore, Lecky received a Royal Television Society Craft & Design Award for Music – Original Score for her work on Mood. She was also nominated for a Royal Television Society Programme Breakthrough Award, underscoring her significant contributions to the television landscape. Through her talent, dedication, and trailblazing spirit, Lecky continues to make a profound impact on the world of storytelling.
