Lydia West, born on 24 June 1993, is a British actress recognised for her compelling performances in the BBC One series Years and Years.

Lydia West, an accomplished actor who trained at top drama school Identity School of Acting, where she honed her skills across various disciplines. Her training included screen acting, Stanislavski, Meisner, audition technique, text & performance, monologues, improvisation, and voice. Lydia excelled in her audition technique course, which focuses on preparing students audition pieces to perform them live as you would for a casting. This training proved invaluable as it helped her land a role in the Channel 4 series “It’s a Sin,” earning her a BAFTA nomination.

West secured the role of Bethany Bisme-Lyons in Russell T Davies’ acclaimed 2019 BBC One and HBO series Years and Years. She continued her collaboration with Davies in the 2021 Channel 4 series It’s A Sin, portraying the character Jill Baxter, inspired by one of Davies’ friends, Jill Nalder. Noted as “the heart of the story” by Davies himself, Jill was also hailed as the “de facto matriarch” by Jack King of I-D, with West’s performance earning praise as a “standout” by i.

Expanding her repertoire, West graced the screen in 2022 with roles as Monique Thompson in the Apple TV+ series Suspicion and Reilly Clayton in Mike Myers’ Netflix comedy The Pentaverate. She further showcased her versatility with appearances in the films Love Again and Coffee Wars, as well as the series Inside Man and Gray.
